He has studied and worked vocally with Catherine Young (Victoria Conservatory), Susan Young (UVic), and Michael Gormley (Christ Church Cathedral) and is currently a student in the studio of Arlene McIntyre. John has performed as a chorister and as a soloist with several island choirs and ensembles including Christ Church Cathedral Choir, Centennial United Church Choir, the Civic Orchestra, the North Island Choral Society, Capriccio Vocal Ensemble and Voces Intimae, but finds the past years with Hexaphone to be his most musically satisfying experience.

tenor 2

Michael Zastre, tenor

Michael studied computer science in his misspent youth, which included three days driving Formula Fords, and in the midst of said youth was introduced to choral music by singing in ensembles conducted by Diane Loomer (Amabilis, Chor Leone) and Elmer Iseler (National Youth Choir 1993). He is currently regular faculty in the Department of Computer Science at UVic where he makes heavy use of the University's collection of recordings and his department's espresso machine. He is still coping with the news that he is actually a tenor rather than an ersatz baritone.

baritone
